Milieu Psychotherapy
A specialized approach to mental health treatment.
My work
Milieu Psychotherapy utilizes an intensive focus on your internal mental life, the external world, and the constant interplay between the two.
The therapy is a comprehensive approach: we meet in varying degrees of frequency, according to your needs and, when it feels right to you, I collaborate with key people or providers in your life.
About Caroline
I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Wright Institute in September of 2011 and began work as a Milieu Therapist.
My graduate work focused on integrating psychoanalytic psychology into non-traditional settings, including various community mental health settings and private residential treatment centers. I was drawn to milieu therapy in each of those placements and chose to continue it in my private practice.
In addition to my work with adults, my background includes working with children, adolescents and families in both a traditional psychotherapy setting as well as the milieu.
A particular area of interest for me is working with adolescents. Navigating being a teenager in todays world is intense and often confusing. I believe that having a space to talk freely, without criticism or judgment is a crucial part of an adolescents development. I help young adults develop their unique identity in the midst of complicated feelings and experiences.
Let’s work together
The environment in which our sessions take place can be either a in person or online in a traditional office, your home, or a public space that has meaning to you, or whichever combination of these settings makes sense to you.
We will think together, creatively, about new ways to approach your challenges and work towards a different experience of living.
The treatment is designed to meet your unique ways of thinking and the unique ways you engage in the world.
